DJ Concrete
Concrete started off his career as a Dj in the early eighties. Playing - soul - funk - rare groove - hip hop in legendary Luton Sound System Soul Incorporated & Positive Force. alongside Gappa G, Hyper Hypa, Matt Jam Lamont (kiss) & Rodger Johnston (Capital Radio) Stumpy & Bertie B.
From these humble beginnings Concrete found a new sound coming through in the nineties, which was the Acid House movement. He found himself playing at many an illegal Rave and Warehouse party. Such as weekend world, Biology & Exodus. Which were among some of the biggest free parties in the UK. Then came a sound fueled with deep Reggae bass lines and speeded up hip hop breakz. It was the Uk Sound emerging, it was jungle. This was were Concrete found his niche. His first big break came playing at a night called "Jungle Jam" which was attracting huge crowds from all over east anglia due to it playing just this type of specialist music. Concrete found himself playing prime-time 12am - 1am with Legendary Mc`s Five 0 & Moose (Jungle Fever & Kool Fm 94.5fm). But what made the night so special for Concrete is that he played for the 1st time in a club, his good friends Gappa G & Hyper Hypa`s (Information Centre) which got three rewinds and sent the crowd into a frenzy. From this night concrete had the likes of Dj Ron, Bizzy Bee, Pascal, Rude Bwoy Monty & Sponge offering him there latest release`s to cut onto dubplate at World renowned Music House.
From this Concretes Dj`ing talents had become widely recognized in and around the East Anglia, which lead to him being offered a residency at one of the UK`s biggest and longest serving DnB / Jungle nights "Warning". Where he has been a resident now for 12 years along with Barrington, Mc Five alive and Mc Phantom. Which then Landed him a Job at the now defunct Daddy Armshouse record shop which was owned by top DnB producer Nookie. This was very helpful, as it gave concrete full access to some of the biggest names on the DnB scene. Also working at Nookies allowed concrete full use of the studio, helping him to home in on his production, sound engineering skills. Working at Daddy Armshouse proved to be a valuable learning experience. Concrete has continuously gone on from strength to strength. Keeping his residency at Warning, playing on Perception Fm & starting up raw fm in the home counties, And still finding time to play Rude Awakening, and now on the mighty Kool Fm. To playing at a number of Raves all over the country and world to date. Played Raves to date: warning 12 yrs resident, telepathy, atomics (Maidstone) Heat, Helter Skelter, Desire, Slamming Vinyl, Ministry of Sound, Innovation, One Nation, Hysteria, Atm tour, Germany (Raw Hill) Herbal London and Ibiza.
And now on a new (Legal Radio Station) broadcasting over the home counties Diverse Fm 102.8 Plenty more from Concrete to come in the near Future..................!
